Overview: ITC Defense is in search of an Engineering Technician VI in support of the Child Youth Program (CYP) Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Life Cycle Support Contract. The Engineering Technician VI performs advanced engineering and technical work involving the design, development, testing, and improvement of complex equipment, systems, and components. This role requires a high level of independence, technical expertise, and problem-solving ability, and may include serving as a subject matter expert in a specialized engineering discipline. The position may also provide technical leadership, training, or supervision to lower-level technicians.

Position: Engineering Technician VI
Overview: ITC Defense is in search of an Engineering Technician VI in support of the Child Youth Program (CYP) Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Life Cycle Support Contract. The Engineering Technician VI performs advanced engineering and technical work involving the design, development, testing, and improvement of complex equipment, systems, and components. This role requires a high level of independence, technical expertise, and problem-solving ability, and may include serving as a subject matter expert in a specialized engineering discipline. The position may also provide technical leadership, training, or supervision to lower-level technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Lead hands-on design, integration, testing, and sustainment of complex CCTV, IP video surveillance, and electronic access control systems for CYP facilities.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for video surveillance and access control systems, providing guidance on system architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Perform advanced configuration, diagnostics, and resolution of complex system issues involving video quality, network performance, storage, and access control functionality.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system designs, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
- Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (new electronic components such as solid-state devices for instrumentation equipment).
- Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques.
- Resolves design problems with contract personnel and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system.
- Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design.
- Uses untried and untested measurement techniques; and improves the performance of the equipment.
- May advise equipment users on redesign to solve unique operational deficiencies.
- Plans approach and conduct various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by (a) difficult performance requirements because of conflicting attributes such as versatility, size, and ease of operation; or (b) of techniques or components.
- Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment.
- Individual shall be capable of independently planning and accomplishing complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity or serving as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering, e.g., environmental factors affecting electronic engineering.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee installations, upgrades, pilots, and technology refresh efforts, ensuring system compatibility and performance.
- Provide technical leadership, training, and day-to-day supervision to lower-level technicians and analysts.
- Review work products for quality, compliance, and technical accuracy; ensure alignment with project objectives and DoD/CYP requirements.
- Coordinate with government stakeholders, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical issues and support lifecycle sustainment activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Twelve years of relevant practical experience with an associate’s degree or formal electronics training OR Fourteen years of relevant practical experience with a High School Diploma or GED
- Work experience must include the following: Design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents and technical drawings
- Genetec Security Center 5.x Omnicast Technical Certification (or higher) is required
- Educational requirements to include one of the following:
- Associate’s degree in engineering technology, mathematics, or science
- Formal Electronics Training through one of the following:
- Accredited technical school
- Class A or Class B military electronics or communications school
- Electronics apprentice program (four-year program)
- High school diploma or GED
- Specialized expertise in a particular engineering discipline (e.g., electrical, mechanical, systems, environmental).
- Experience serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring technical staff.
- Familiarity with advanced testing methods, instrumentation, or emerging technologies
