JOB TITLE: Human Resources Generalist

LOCATION: Huntsville, AL

Overview: ITC Defense is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to work in our Huntsville, AL, office. This position supports the daily functions of the HR department and serves as a key partner in driving positive employee experiences across the organization. This role provides hands-on support in employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding/offboarding, HRIS data integrity, leave management, and compliance. The HR Generalist will collaborate closely with the Director of Human Resources and Recruiting to ensure all HR operations align with ITC Defense’s values, policies, and compliance requirements. This position is an on-site position with some remote work flexibility.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employees regarding policies, benefits, and workplace concerns; assist in resolving first line employee relations matters and escalate complex issues as appropriate.
  • Support initiatives that promote positive employee relations, internal communications, engagement, and culture by building morale, analyzing feedback, and partnering with leadership to improve retention.
  • Responsible for onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a seamless new hire experience, accurate documentation, and compliance with all federal and state requirements.
  • Administer benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in partnership with ITC’s benefits broker and vendors. Support benefit audits as required.
  • Manage FMLA, ADA, and other leave of absence processes, ensuring timely communication and documentation.
  • Maintain employee records in HRIS ensuring data accuracy and reporting integrity.
  • Assist with HR analytics reports (turnover, headcount, demographics, etc.) to support leadership and audit needs.
  • Support management of timely annual compliance coordination, maintenance and fillings including; AAP, EEO-1, Vets 4212, BLS reports, and new hire state reporting requirements. Research and remain up to date on any changes that may affect the company.
  • Ensure federal, state, and local employment law compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support policy reviews, handbook updates, and training compliance tracking.
  • Partner with Payroll and Accounting to verify employee data accuracy and pay changes.
  • Support coordination of corporate training efforts, retention initiatives, recognition programs, performance reviews, and other HR initiatives to include process review, oversight and compliance as directed.
  • Attend regular meetings with respective business units 
  • Contribute to process documentation, SOP development, and HR project execution.
  • Provide recruiting support as directed, tasks can include:
    • Partner with recruiting, program and other HR personnel to ensure consistent job postings, ongoing outreach efforts, dispositioning, job descriptions maintenance.
    • Engages in the recruitment process during high-volume periods.
    • Support other recruiting efforts as needed.
  • Actively participate in Business Development & Community Engagement by developing and maintaining relationships with community partners, professional groups, and industry organizations to support recruiting, community outreach, and brand reputation. (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, HASBAT, NAC-ISSA, Catalyst, SMD Symposium, Cyber Summit).  
  • Responsible for development of monthly newsletters for internal communications
  • May have professional responsibilities over lower-level support and clerical personnel as department grows.
  • May perform all daily Human Resources duties in the absence of the Director of Human Resources as requested.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of Human Resources experience, with at least 2 years in a Government Contracting environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting a diverse, geographically dispersed workforce in multiple office locations and countries.
  • Exposure to and commitment to HR best practices in employee relations, policy development, compensation, payroll management and payroll taxes, benefits management (Insurance, FMLA, STD, LTD), conflict resolution, policy development, and employment law (including but not limited to EEO, ADA, FLSA, FMLA).
  • Working knowledge of Human Recourses Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), (JAZZ HR And Paychex preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience in a high growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Excel and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Global Human Resources exposure a plus (to include working knowledge of the tax, legal, immigration and policy compliance issues regarding international mobility/expat administration)
  • Understanding of market dynamics and competitive environment, with ability to implement and use metrics and analytics
  • Experience working in a small professional services firm preferred; management and technology consulting experience is particularly desired
  • Working knowledge of SCLS (Service Contract Labor Standards) requirements and management
  • SHRM or PHR certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).
  • Specialized experience with payroll or benefits administration.
