Electrical Facilities Engineer
Position: Electrical Facilities Engineer
Overview: Support facilities engineering integration and operations functions including facility planning, design, real property and equipment acquisition, construction management, cost estimating, and facility sustainment in support of Missile Defense Agency (MDA) military construction and facilities. Travel is infrequent, up to 10% as required, both CONUS and OCONUS.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering and construction integration and operations functions including facility planning, design, real property and equipment acquisition, construction management, and cost estimating.
- Support facility engineering designs, construction project teams, and on-site equipment systems integration activities for building systems and facilities.
- Analyze engineering tasking requirements, establish electrical scope and objectives, and develop Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) documents.
- Perform relevant engineering research and assist with development of supporting engineering documents such as briefings, information papers, and reports for facilities and infrastructure.
- Support systems engineering integrated baseline reviews, project change management, and acquisition reviews.
- Coordinate with internal and external personnel, including design and construction agents.
- Brief customers, finalize engineering documents, and staff documents through appropriate offices for approvals and decisions.
- Provide on-site construction management support, including interaction with construction contractors and owner's representatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
- An M.E. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering plus 5 years of relevant engineering experience may be substituted for the seven years of relevant engineering experience requirement
- A B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license plus 5 years of relevant engineering experience may be substituted for the seven years of relevant engineering experience requirement.
- Capable of providing electrical engineering support for planning, design, construction, and maintenance/sustainment of the physical and natural environments, and the administrative and mission facilities and infrastructure of the Agency.
- Possess technical and engineering theoretical knowledge for an electrical engineering discipline.
- Ability to review Architect/Engineer (A/E) facility design plans, specifications, and contract documents as needed for various facilities.
- Capable of working as a team member to solve engineering problems.
- Expertise in execution of electrical facility engineering and environmental policies, studies, and analysis; works as a member of a team and assists with solving complex problems.
- Expertise in on-site construction management, including interaction with construction contractors and owner's representatives.
- Familiarity with standard U.S. professional office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Secret security clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in any U.S. state.
- Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency and Department of War projects.
- Project management during site deployment to include construction, master schedules, budget, and configuration management.
- Experience with facility equipment controls systems, including design, acquisition, installation and checkout, and commissioning.
- Construction scheduling, scheduling software, and schedule analysis tools.
- Experience developing policies, plans, processes, procedures, and guidance for site activation, system deployment, and site sustainment practices.
- Experience developing and implementing program activities and coordinating efforts of multiple stakeholders, prime contractors, subcontractors, and support service personnel.
- Experience developing acquisition plans and supporting procurement actions and scopes of work.
- Experience mentoring junior-level staff members.
